David John – “Machine Hymn”

Spooky, organized ambient with a pinch of a snarl. I was unable to embed this properly in a blog post, but check it out >>here<< on the composer’s official site (you can also download it from there for free if desired).

A word about song pitches & keys

Certain songs have great melodies but don't quite sound right to some people. If this is a problem for you, I highly recommend downloading Audacity (a freeware program) and running your file(s) through the program's pitch adjuster. Music is always subjective, and there's no shame in changing your own private music if it makes that much of a difference for concentration and productivity.

Music Ideas for Writers & Writing

1-4 new posts every week and a longer review once a month (time permitting).

What’s the point of this blog? Exactly what it sounds like: music ideas to help writers (and similar creative types) think, concentrate, and otherwise meander their way into optimum working conditions.

This isn’t an original idea for a blog, but it will hopefully nonetheless be helpful to someone. Expect heavy representation from soundtracks, orchestral music, atmospheric/ambient, piano solos, and folk/Celtic. Many selections will also have a New Age or smooth jazz piano flavor.

Posts about albums or longer tracks will generally include an attempt at a long review, but this blog isn’t specifically a critic’s corner.

Happy listening and good luck with your endeavors.
