If you like contemplative instrumental music with a generous dollop of folk and Celtic influences, try Secret Garden. This Irish-Norwegian duo has been making a unique hybrid variety of music for 20 years. It is highly structured and often has orchestral backing, but it also tends to be immensely textured. Some people call it New Age music, but I disagree since many of the melodies and harmonies are precise, polished, and acoustic in ways not often found in run-of-the-mill New Age. “Silent Wings” is one of the more balanced tracks on the album (which is saying something).
