Very occasionally, you’ll catch me posting about classical music. The genre has a complicated and fickle relationship with yours truly, so I’ll try to only mention the most interesting and approachable songs I can find. This one definitely fits the bill.
It’s almost frightening that Chopin works can make so much sense in a modern context. Yes, it takes a certain kind of person to unreservedly adore Chopin’s compositions, but maybe Chopin was simply a little ahead of his time…because in this case, this piece is suddenly a brilliant motif and not just a sweetly melancholic thought. If you open yourself up to it enough, you might even see what I saw: meticulous tension and relentlessness.
