Fun With Mixes: “World of Warcraft” Atmospheres

Over the years, a plethora of music has been created for the fantasy MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) Warcraft and its various  expansions. These soundtracks are universally praised for their quality, depth, and attention to detail (especially due to the notable fact that each successive album isn’t a mindless rehashing of prior albums). However, there was also a great deal of additional music never released on official soundtracks and only available during in-game time. This mix offers just a few of those excellent additional songs, many of which are subtler and more atmospheric than the official soundtracks. This is still official game music (not fan work), but it wasn’t deemed important or splashy enough to squeeze onto the OSTs.

This really is a useful mix, so it’s a shame that it can’t be bought (the uploader dug around in game data files to find these). I particularly recommend “Borean Tundra and the Kalu’ak” (7:27-12:00).
