This quirky French group (I hesitate to say “band” because that would be oversimplifying matters) frequently centers their music on topics within J.R.R. Tolkien’s universe. Many of their songs are wistful and somber. Their most recent album, Nevrast, utilized a skeleton chamber ensemble to excellent effect. Though the vocals are “pop” grade/style, the dazzling quality of the instrumentation and arrangements will make you wonder if they’re the Tolkien Ensemble’s cousin. This sparkler is an interesting vocalise effort (and also one of their more cheerful numbers to date).
